WHAT IS INDEX PROTECTION (IP) ?

Index Protection (IP) Class - IP Class is generally a type of protection coding for a device or a working system protection which describes the resistance of the tool to direct contact or seepage that enters its deficiency from foreign objects such as water and dust.

On electric machines and electric panels, we often get an IP code on the name plate of the equipment, the coding of which consists of two numbers, which means the resistance of the tool to foreign objects.

The first number indicates the level of resistance of the tool to foreign matter (solid) and dust, while the second number indicates the level of resistance of the tool to seepage of liquid or water objects that can infiltrate the tool.

The higher the numbers listed in the IP Class code (first numbers 0 - 6, second numbers from 0 - 8), the higher the resistance level of the tool to solid or liquid objects. And of course the higher the IP Class of a tool, the more expensive the price of the tool will be.
